FAQ

1. How will I know when you receive my order?

Your order is reserved as soon as you hit “Place Your Order.” You will receive an e-mailed receipt showing your products ordered and estimated total due.  At that time, we’ll ask for a $250 deposit to confirm your order.

2. Are there delivery fees?

In order to cover the cost of truck rental and fuel, we charge a $25 delivery fee per split-half.  For smaller orders, we charge a nominal fee, depending on weight.

3. When and where will I pick up my beef?

We send out a reminder/confirmation e-mail one week prior to your delivery day. In that e-mail, we will give you a specific time and location to pick-up your beef.

4. Can you tell me ahead of time how much I will owe on the Delivery Day?

No. We pick up beef from our butchers the morning of deliveries and see the weight of your boxes as they come off the truck, so we are not able to tell you your exact amount due until we hand you your beef. For all orders, the balance is due upon pick-up and will be charged to your credit card on file

5. What if I need to cancel my order?

We understand that situations change, people move, and sometimes customers have to cancel an order. To cover our administration costs, we charge a $30 cancellation fee and will not charge you for the rest of the split-half if the order is cancelled before delivery. Subscription Pack deposits are credited toward final amount due, and are non-refundable. Please note: We do not do door-to- door deliveries and will ask that you return the beef to us in San Juan Bautista at a pre-arranged time for an exchange. Contact info@morrisgrassfed.com for more info.

6. How much freezer space do I need to store my meat? How long can I freeze it?

A split-half takes up about 4.5 cubic feet of freezer space. That equals about one, legal-sized file cabinet drawer or 2-3 shelves of a standard side-by-side freezer.

Morris Grassfed beef is professionally frozen at its peak freshness, giving it the highest quality and taste possible. Our butcher dry-ages each carcass for two-three weeks before cutting, wrapping and immediately deep freezing the beef to retain its vitamin content, color, flavor and texture. According to the U.S.D.A.’s Food Safety and Inspection Service frozen foods remain safe indefinitely.

We recommend thawing frozen beef in the refrigerator overnight, or in cold water. It’s best to plan ahead for slow, safe thawing in the refrigerator. For faster thawing, place food in a leak proof plastic bag and immerse it in cold water. Change the water every 30 minutes. After thawing, cook immediately and enjoy! For a FACT SHEET on meat safety, see the USDA website here: https://www.fsis.usda.gov/food-safety/safe-food-handling-and-preparation/meat/beef-farm-table#20

7. Can you split up our beef into groups if we are sharing with another family?

We do not open sealed boxes from our butcher. Every cut is individually wrapped and clearly labeled, making it very easy for you and your friends to separate evenly when you get home to your own kitchen.

8. What types of payment do you accept?

We prefer to use touchless payments via credit/ debit cards on file. All transactions use a secure, 256-bit encrypted connection so you can be sure your data is safe. We do not store your private information, but use stripe, a secure third-party credit  card processor. Cash and checks are accepted as well. Please make checks out to “Morris Grassfed” and have them pre-written on the day of delivery. We will let you know amount due as soon as we see the box weights.

9. What if I miss my scheduled pick-day?

Babies are born, work emergencies get in the way – we know there are other priorities in your life in addition to good food. Although these events can complicate your pick-up, we hope that you will do your best to meet us. Because we have pre-arranged delivery with our butchers and a full day of other customers’ meeting us, it is not possible for us to re-arrange our delivery schedule. If you can get a friend to pick up your beef, that would be best, otherwise we can store your beef in San Juan Bautista (for a $30 re-stocking fee) and deliver it to you on our next delivery day. We store meat at a cold storage facility, so do not have regular on-ranch pick-ups.

For more information call us at (831) 623-2933. Our “office” hours are often outdoors, so if we don’t pick up, please leave a message and we’ll get back to you as soon as we’re back at our desks. You may also e-mail us at info@morrisgrassfed.com and we will get back to you as soon as possible. Thanks!
