Morris Grassfed produces 100% pasture-raised beef, grown on the California central coast.
Who We Are
Morris Grassfed is celebrating 25 years of providing 100% grassfed beef to customers throughout California. Thanks to everyone who has helped us make it to this milestone! With love, the Morris Grassfed Team.
JOE MORRIS was never discouraged by all the naysayers who told him “not to go into the cattle business.” A native of San Francisco, Joe used to visit the ranch as a child and get up at 5:30 a.m. to have breakfast with his grandfather, J.J. Baumgartner. After a bowl of cereal with whole cream and a bear claw from the San Juan Bakery, they would go out to check the water and move the cattle. He’s been hooked ever since. He graduated from The Great Books Program at the University of Notre Dame, went to live in Venezuela for two years, attended the Graduate Theological Union at the University of California, Berkeley, and worked on the Spanish Ranch in Tuscarora, Nevada. Today, he still gets up at 5:30 (while the rest of us sleep!), makes nutritious oatmeal and smoothies for our breakfast, and then is off to check the water and tend the animals and soil that he loves.
JULIE MORRIS handles all media and works to promote the health, environmental and economic benefits of grassfed beef. A graduate of San Diego State University, she majored in Journalism with a minor in Italian Language & Literature. She is a fellow of the California Agricultural Leadership Program, Class XXXIII. Passionate about good food that supports rural communities and good health, she eats Morris Grassfed Beef at least three times a week and is on a mission to empty friends’ and family’s freezers of frozen vegetables and fill them with quality grassfed beef, with room for vodka and gourmet ice cream! She is also a writer and published her first novel, Exit Strategy, in 2016. Kirkus Reviews called it “a dynamic, multi-faceted treat.”
